The new European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) pass initiative from the European Union is due to be up and running in late 2022 and required in 2023. We have put together all current information about it so you can understand what it is for, who is eligible to apply for it, how much it costs and how Byevisa can help you get yours!

All About the Lithuania ETIAS

Planning a trip to the largest of the Baltic states? Some people are unsure if Lithuania is in the EU. It has actually been a member of the European Union since 2004 and is part of the Schengen Agreement too. It is also one of the countries which you can access using the ETIAS travel pass!

This authorisation, which you can apply for with Byevisa, lets you visit for up to 90 days over any 180-day time period. As it is a Multi-Entry pass, you can enter and leave the country as often as you like during its 3-year validity period.

What’s more, you can also visit any of the 25 other nations that form the Schengen zone, such as fellow Baltic state Latvia or Poland, which lies to the south of the country.

Difference Between a Lithuania ETIAS and a Lithuania Visa

Remember the old days when you had to visit an embassy and wait around for ages? The great thing with the new ETIAS visa system is that you no longer have to!

The type of passport you hold determines whether you are eligible for this travel pass.

If you are from one of around 60 countries including Ukraine and the United States, then you can apply for this autorisation. Use our visa checker tool in the next section to confirm your eligibility before you start your application.

Once your ETIAS application has been approved, you can visit countries in the Schengen zone for up to 90 days during any 180-day time period.

People from certain nations including Russia, India and Pakistan aren’t able to obtain this documentation. If this applies to you, then you need to apply for a visa for the Schengen area instead if you are planning to travel to Lithuania for holiday or for business. To do this you must request an appointment at your nearest Lithuanian embassy or consulate.

There are certain requirements that you must meet in order to get this travel pass:

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date you plan to enter the country.
  • You must be travelling for tourism, business, transit or medical reasons.

ETIAS Application Process for Lithuania

We know that getting travel paperwork sorted can be a real pain, so we make it as simple as possible. Byevisa’s fast, user-friendly system is the best solution out there to process your Lithuania visa application.

  • Your passport information including date of issue and the expiry date.

The next step is to decide how quickly you need your travel pass. We offer 3 processing speeds. If you are planning your vacation way in advance, then our Standard X-day service may suffice. If time isn’t on your side, then select our Highly Rapid X-day service.

The final stage is to pay for your pass. Have your debit, credit card or PayPal details to hand to make the payment. Each application costs X USD per applicant, and we also charge a small processing fee (price variable depending which speed you choose).

Once you’ve done all this, sit back and wait for the email with your travel authorisation to arrive in your inbox in the selected timeframe.

The pass is electronically linked to the passport you applied with and will be valid for 3 years from the approval date (or until your passport expires if that is sooner). However, we recommend that you print out a copy and take it with you just in case.

ETIAS – Form and Documents to Visit Lithuania

Both options take you to the application form, where there are a number of obligatory fields that you need to fill in. Please check all the information carefully.

First, you will need to provide us with some personal information, including:

  • Your first name, middle name if you have one and your surname.
  • Your gender.
  • Your date of birth and the place you were born.
  • Your nationality.
  • Your country of residence and current residence address.

Then specify the details of the pass you require:

  • Which authorisation are you applying for? (ETIAS).
  • What is your intended arrival date?
  • What is the email address where you would like to receive your travel pass?

We also need some of your passport details:

  • Passport number.
  • Passport issue date.
  • Passport expiry date.

In addition, you must answer some standard security questions, such as whether you have ever been convicted of a serious crime or terrorist activity.

Decide the processing speed you require based on how urgently you need the document. Byevisa offers 3 options:

  • Standard service: X-day delivery for X amount.
  • Rapid service: X-day delivery for X amount.
  • Highly Rapid: X-day delivery for X amount.

The final stage is to pay for your application. We have three different payment options – debit card, credit card or via Paypal.

If you choose to pay by card, you need to input:

  • Your full name exactly as it appears on the card.
  • Your card number and expiration date.
  • Your card’s 3-digit security code (located on the back of the card).

One the payment has been processed successfully and you’ve submitted the form, your application is complete! Now you can sit back and wait for a member of the Byevisa team to email your travel pass to you within the allotted time window.

ETIAS Lithuania – Status Check

Your authorisation arrives directly in your email inbox when it’s ready, so simply check your email once your processing time period has passed to receive your valid pass.

Please reach out to us if you have not received your travel pass after the processing time has expired. For example, if you chose our Rapid service to receive your travel pass in X days, please wait until after the X days have passed to contact us and enquire about the status.

You can contact us by selecting the Status option from the main menu and entering your name, contact information and details of your enquiry. Use this same method to let us know if you realise you’ve made a mistake on your application, or if you have any questions.

How Much is an ETIAS for Lithuania?

This travel authorisation costs X USD per application. You also pay a small handling fee to Byevisa for managing your application for you.

ETIAS Lithuania FAQs

Yes, you can visit all Schengen zone countries with this pass, including nearby Latvia and Poland. Not all European countries are in the Schengen Area, so make sure to check before you travel.
Getting a Lithuania ETIAS visa means you automatically get a multiple-entry pass. You are able to travel to Schengen zone nations on multiple occasions for a maximum of 90 days over any 180-day period for the 3 years that the pass is valid.
In the past, the official government site might have been your first port of call for travel information for Lithuania. Nowadays there is no need to wade through pages of information about EU regulations, we have all the information you need ahead of your trip right here.
The ETIAS validity is for a maximum of 3 years, or until your passport expires if that is sooner. When you apply, your passport must have at least 6 months’ validity remaining from the date you plan to arrive in Vilnius or elsewhere in the country.
In the majority of cases, there is a charge incurred to acquire ETIAS access. However, those customers under 18 or over 70 years old only need to pay Byevisa’s processing fee to manage the paperwork, there is no EU charge.
There is minimal chance of this happening. However, if it does, then we will get to the bottom of it and let you know on what basis the government has rejected your application and what the possible next steps could be.
If you love to travel, then your passport is one of your most prized possessions. Your ETIAS is linked to your passport electronically, so once your identification expires the travel pass is no longer valid. You must apply for a new passport and a new travel pass.
The process to apply is the same if you hold dual citizenship. Remember, the ETIAS is only affiliated to one passport. If you hold both British and American nationality, for example, and apply for the Lithuania ETIAS using your British passport, it will only be linked to that document. You must travel using the passport linked to the travel authorisation.

US citizens do not currently need a visa for Lithuania, but you will be required to get the ETIAS authorisation starting in 2023.
Although not strictly necessary, it is best to err on the side of caution and print a copy in case you are asked to show it at border control when you touch down in Lithuania. The pass is also electronically linked to your passport.
