All About the Indonesia eVisa

Travelling to the Indonesian island of Bali? Or maybe you’re heading to Jakarta, the Republic’s capital and economic hub, to do business. Whatever your travel plans in Indonesia, you will first need to investigate if you require a visa to enter the country.

Many nationalities can travel visa-free to Bali and elsewhere in Indonesia, including Indians, Americans and Brits. This is provided you are visiting as a tourist.

For those visiting for business purposes, there is an eVisa available, and the government will be releasing more information about this soon. You will be able to apply for this directly from us using any internet-connected device. The nation’s economy is the largest in Southeast Asia and there are many opportunities available in this emerging market that those with an entrepreneurial mind can take advantage of.

On this page, we’ll guide you through how to apply for a business visa for Indonesia online and the supporting documents and information you need. Filling in our online form takes just a few minutes and you’ll receive your approved documentation straight to your email inbox!

We’ll also explain how to acquire an Indonesia tourist visa at the embassy if you’re heading here to hit the beaches, rather than on a business trip.

Indonesia Visa Application Process

Byevisa can help you apply for your Indonesia business visa today. This will enable you to visit the country to negotiate contracts and forge new partnerships, attend conferences and more.

To make your application, click ‘Apply Now’ to navigate to the form to enter your details. You will need to input some personal and passport details as well as the dates you intend to enter and exit the country. Applicants must provide evidence that they have sufficient funds to cover their stay.

Important: To obtain the electronic Indonesia business visa, you must have a letter from a guarantor (your Indonesian business contact). This could be someone from the company’s Board of Directors, or an authorised HRD (Human Resource Development) manager.

We run you through the full list of details to enter into the online form in our ‘Indonesia Visa Application Form and Documents’ section.

Once you have entered all your details, you must select your preferred processing speed.

We offer 3 different services depending on how soon you want to get down to business.

  1. Standard – your travel pass in 3-5 business days for 23.00 USD.
  2. Rapid – get it in 1-3 business days for 27.00 USD.
  3. Highly Rapid – in 1 business day for 30.00 USD.

You will then need to pay for your application using a debit/credit card or PayPal account and then sit back and relax while we process your eVisa!

The tourist pass is applied for via the government site. We will let you know if this changes as the Indonesian government is planning to introduce an electronic pass for tourists in the near future.

Indonesia Visa Requirements and Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for the business visa for Indonesia, there are specific requirements you must meet. The government is set to release more information about the eVisa in due course. We summarise the requirements for you below:

  • You must be visiting the country for business purposes, like to negotiate, attend conferences or meet with partners but not to undertake employment.
  • You must hold a passport valid for a minimum of 6 months.
  • You must provide a bank statement in English (with a minimum amount of 1500 USD).
  • You must show evidence of travel bookings.

Remember, this type of paperwork is not suitable for those looking to work here or undertake permanent employment in the country. You must visit the embassy to obtain travel authorisation for these purposes.

Similarly, if you aren’t visiting for business but are going on holiday to Bali or elsewhere in the country, then you may need to apply for a tourist pass (either Single or Multiple Entry) at the Indonesia embassy nearest to you. In some cases, a sponsor letter may be required.

Some nationalities are eligible for a VoA which can be obtained at the airport on entering the country. Other citizens can visit Indonesia without requiring travel authorisation; they just need an up-to-date passport. More on this below.

Indonesia Visa-Free Countries

Visiting for tourism purposes rather than for business? The government lists 169 countries that are visa-exempt. These citizens are allowed to stay in the country for 30 days from the date of arrival visa-free.

This includes Americans, Australians, Brits, Canadians, Indians, and citizens of New Zealand coming to the country on holiday.

Indonesia Visa Application Form and Supporting Documents

The simple electronic form that you fill in to apply for a business eVisa with us requests some personal and passport details. You also need to submit evidence that you are travelling for business purposes.

You must hold an eligible passport valid for a minimum of 6 months from your planned arrival date in Indonesia.

The details below must be entered carefully into the form:

  • Your email address, so that we can send you your approved electronic pass once it’s ready.
  • Your full name.
  • Your gender.
  • Your date of birth.
  • Your nationality as written on your passport.
  • The country you were born in.
  • The country you currently reside in.
  • Your passport number.
  • Your passport issue and expiry dates.
  • Your intended arrival and exit dates.
  • A contact phone number.

The following supporting documents are also required for business travellers:

  • Confirmation of a return or onward flight.
  • A bank statement demonstrating that you have enough funds to cover your stay in the country.
  • A letter from a guarantor. This can be someone on the company Board of Directors, or an authorised HRD manager of an Indonesian company, for example.

You will also require a valid credit or debit card to pay the associated processing fee.

Below are the prices for our different services:

  • Standard processing: Receive your business authorisation in 3-5 working days for just 23.00 USD.
  • Rapid: Get it in 1-3 days for just 27.00 USD.
  • Go Highly Rapid: We’ll get your paperwork to you in just 1 business day for only 30.00 USD.

The final step is to pay for your application. Here is the payment information to enter:

  • The name of the cardholder exactly as it appears on your credit or debit card.
  • The card number.
  • The card’s expiry date and issue date (if applicable).
  • The 3-digit CVV code on the reverse of your card.

Alternatively, you can select the ‘PayPal’ button and follow the prompts to pay via this method.

Et voila, you’re done! Your travel authorisation will wing its way to you in the specified time frame. Print out a copy of your eVisa to show to immigration officials along with your passport, once you touch down in Indonesia. This will make things as smooth as possible on arrival.

Indonesia Visa Status Check

We make everything as simple as possible on our site. To check the status of your application, click the ‘Log in’ button and enter your details.

You will then be directed to a new page where you can find out if your application is currently marked as:

  1. Approved – which means it will be in your email inbox (check your spam folder too).
  2. Pending – which means it is still in progress.
  3. Rejected – we will explain why if we have this information.

If you realise that you’ve made a mistake with your application, please get in touch with our customer service team as soon as possible. If we’ve already started processing your application, you’ll need to reapply. However, if we haven’t, we’ll gladly amend it for you for free.

How Much Does a Visa for Indonesia Cost?

As well as the cost of the electronic pass, you will pay a processing fee to us for taking the task of managing your paperwork off your hands. This will free up some time for you to hone your negotiating skills ahead of your big meeting!

If you have a last-minute business meeting in Jakarta, you can obtain the travel authorisation in 1 business day for a processing fee of 30.00 USD.

Alternatively, if you’re planning your agenda further in advance, we also offer a Rapid service to process your paperwork in 1-3 business days for 27.00 USD, and our Standard service to get it in 3-5 business days for 23.00 USD. Pick the option that suits you best!

More Information for Travellers to Indonesia

Check out the questions and answers below for answers to frequent queries travellers to this region have about planning their trip.

The Single Entry Business Visa is valid for 60 days. If you need more time than this to finish your business negotiations, you can apply to extend your visa at the embassy.
You can renew your documentation by visiting the immigration office in Indonesia before your current travel authorisation expires to arrange an extension.
If your application is denied for whatever reason, we will get in contact with you straight away to inform you and let you know the next steps. This is unlikely to happen; however, the government does exercise the right to reject applications. To maximise the chances of your application being approved first time, enter your details with care and check them before clicking 'Submit'.
If you are lucky enough to hold dual citizenship then be sure to apply for your authorisation with the travel I.D that you plan to enter the country with. Also, confirm that you’re eligible for the authorisation you have in mind with the nationality you apply with.
If you are passing through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport for less than 24 hours, or other airports in the country for less than 8 hours, you don’t require a transit pass. However, if you are switching terminals in Soekarno-Hatta, or transiting through Ngurah Rai International Airport, you do require one. The exception is if you hold a passport from a visa-exempt country.
The official government site is where you should go to apply for your tourist pass, if you’re not exempt. For business travel authorisation, you can apply right here in just a few minutes.
Yes, you need to print out your electronic pass, and take a copy with you when you travel to prevent any hold-ups at immigration.
Applications for travel authorisation to this country are normally approved very quickly. You can receive your pass in your email inbox from 1 to 5 business days depending on which of our processing speeds you opt for at the checkout.
The Electronic Visa is linked to your passport. If your passport expires, you must first renew your passport, then apply for new travel documentation, which will be linked to your new passport number. For most applications, you will require at least 6 months of validity on your passport when you apply.
The cost of the VoA for tourists is approximately 35 USD. However, only some nationalities are eligible for this, when travelling for specific purposes and at specific entry points.
Below is an example of how your business pass will look. Don’t forget to print out a copy of it too and take it with you to the airport when you go to catch your flight. Indonesia Visa
