If you’re an Australian citizen heading here on holiday for a period of fewer than 30 days, you won’t need to obtain any kind of travel authorisation before you jet off on your trip. This is because Australian citizens are entitled to Visa Exemption.

Note, however, that this is only applicable if you are flying into the country. If you plan to arrive via a land border you’re still entitled to this exemption but the validity period is only 15 days rather than the full 30.

If you aren’t an Australian citizen and your country of origin isn’t on the list of exempt countries, you need to apply in advance for a Single Entry or Multiple Entry travel authorisation.

• An original passport with at least 6 months remaining.
• A copy of your passport.
• A downloaded and completed visa application form.
• Recent passport photo.
• Proof of having an Australian electronic visa.
• A bank statement dated within the last 6 months showing at least THB 20,000 per person or a minimum of THB 40,000 per family.
• Confirmed accommodation booking in your name for the entirety of your holiday in the country.
• Evidence of your Australian residential address.
• A copy of your travel ticket indicating the date on which you arrived in the country and the date that you are departing.

The Single Entry authorisation has a validity period of 3 months from the issue date and travellers are allowed to remain in the country for a maximum of 60 days. The Multiple Entry authorisation has a validity period of 6 months from the issue date and travellers are allowed to remain in the country for a maximum of 60 days for each entry.
