There’s tons to see and do in Vietnam as a citizen of Bangladesh. Whether you intend to visit Ho Chi Minh City (previously known as Saigon), the capital Hanoi, or UNESCO World Heritage sites like Hạ Long Bay, you’re sure to make unforgettable memories.
Of course, before you pack your bags and get ready to board your flight to this amazing Southeast Asian country, you need to arrange your travel visa in advance. Do citizens of Bangladesh require a travel visa for Vietnam and, if so, how do you get it? What’s the application process and how much does it cost?
Well, in brief, the answer is ‘yes’, there is a Vietnam visa for Bangladeshi passport holders. However, for the moment Bangladeshis are unable to obtain what’s called the Vietnam eVisa (Electronic Visa). Instead, you must either obtain your travel permit at your nearest Vietnamese embassy or apply for a Visa on Arrival (VoA).
Fortunately, the process to acquire your travel permit is relatively simple using either of these methods. In this article, we walk you through the steps to get the VoA, so you spend less time worrying about your travel permit and more time choosing whether to see the Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long or the Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary!

Embassy Visa Versus Vietnam Visa on Arrival for Bangladeshi Citizens
You can apply for your Vietnam visa from Bangladesh at the Vietnamese embassy in Dhaka. To do this, you first need to compile the necessary documents, visit the embassy during its opening hours, submit your application and wait for it to be approved.
Alternatively, as we explain below, you can apply for the Visa on Arrival (VoA) online. This way, you fill in some straightforward personal and passport information and, when your application is approved, you receive your approval letter by email. Easy peasy!
Simply print this letter to show to the border officials when you land. Then, your VoA will be stamped, allowing you entry for your holiday!
Please note that Byevisa does not provide VoA Approval Letters for citizens of Bangladesh at this time. We may do so in the future!

- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your planned arrival date.
- Your passport must have at least 2 blank pages for stamping.
- You must be flying into one of the following airports to be eligible for the VoA:
- Tan Son Nhat Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City

- Cat Bi Airport (HPH) in Hai Phong
- Da Nang Airport (DAD) in Da Nang

- You must pay both the VoA service fee (depending on the service you use) and the 25 USD stamping fee when you arrive in the country.
When you arrive, you need both your passport and a printed copy of your VoA to present to the border officials. It’s at this stage that you pay the stamping fee.
Vietnam Visa Fees for Bangladeshi Nationals
The VoA stamping fee that you pay when you arrive is 25 USD.
In addition, depending on the service you use, you typically pay a processing fee to prepare your Visa on Arrival application. This may differ depending on whether you’re applying for a 1-month, 3-month, Single Entry or Multiple Entry travel permit.
Travelling to Vietnam as a Bangladeshi
As mentioned above, you’re only eligible to enter with the VoA if you enter the county at certain airports. To fly from Bangladesh to this country, you typically do so from Bangladesh’s main airport Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka to Tan Son Nhat Airport (SGN) in Ho Chi Minh City (read more about Vietnam’s airports here).
Typically, flights include at least 1 layover in Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KAL). However, if the layover is short, your total flight time could be as brief as 3-4 hours.
Ahead of your trip, the Vietnamese local time zone is GMT+7. This is only 1 hour ahead of Bangladesh’s GMT+6 so, fortunately, you’re unlikely to suffer jet lag after your flight! That said, be sure to factor in the hour difference when you book any hotel reservations or visits to other attractions to make sure you arrive on time!
The international dial code is +84, in case you need to call your hotel or another service ahead of your trip. Be aware that you may be charged at international rates for your call.
Also, once you’re in Vietnam, the local currency is the Vietnamese dong (currency code: VND). It’s worth shopping around at bureaux de change before you go to try and obtain the best exchange rate. This way, your travel budget here will go that much further!
