Zambia Visa on Arrival for US Citizens Requirements

A Visa on Arrival can be obtained by United States citizens when landing at a Zambian airport, such as Kenneth Kaunda International, or at a land border.

Travellers must meet the following requirements:

  • Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months and you should have at least 3 blank pages per entry left in your passport.
  • As well as a valid passport, you will also need to present a return ticket showing when you intend to depart.
  • If you are a US citizen entering Zambia from a yellow fever endemic country, then you will need to show a yellow fever vaccination certificate.

There is also a charge to process your Visa on Arrival. At Kenneth Kaunda you can make the payment via debit or credit card; however, at other points of entry, it must be paid in cash in US dollars.

Prefer to organise your paperwork in advance of your departure? You can arrange this easily with Byevisa.

We detail the criteria and application process for this below.

Other eVisa Requirements for US Citizens Visiting Zambia

For those who prefer to have their paperwork sorted well in advance of their trip, the eVisa for Zambia for US citizens is a great option.

To apply for an Electronic Visa, you will need to have a valid passport as specified above and a yellow fever certificate (where relevant). A full list of countries requiring a certificate can be found on the World Health Organisation’s website. If you are flying from the US, you don’t require this.

You must buy your return ticket before you apply so you can submit this as a supporting document as part of your application.

Please note, you can only enter the country with an e-Visa if you are travelling through one of these airports:

  • Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport – Livingstone.
  • Kenneth Kaunda International Airport – Lusaka.
  • Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport – Ndola.

Below you can find more details of all the information you need to make your application.
